Principles of Safety Management© Series
The Principles of Safety ManagementŠ Series (PSM) is a continuing education tool and training program for safety professionals offered exclusively through the Florida Association of Safety Councils and the Northeast Florida Safety Council.
Why enroll in PSM?
With many companies downsizing, employees are expected to wear many hats, including that of safety professional. To be successful a company must be able to recognize the broad range of factors impacting its exposure to loss and injury. Determining what is critical can mean the difference between profit and loss, or life and death.
When are PSM Courses offered?
New course schedules are released each year, but you can enroll at any time. Since you set your own schedule pace you can earn your certificate in as little as six months, or take up to three years. Core courses are four hours long and the electives vary in length.
A total of 10 Core courses (40 credits) and 1 Elective course must be completed within 3 years to receive your PSM. Once the certificate is earned, an additional 16 Elective Credits will be required over a two-year period to maintain your certification. Elective Courses may be selected from the 15 courses offered in the Advanced Safety Management Certificate Program. Upon completion of the required 16 credits, graduates will receive an updated certificate.
How much are PSM Courses and how do I enroll?
To enroll, fill out a registration form and mail it in or fax it to us at (904) 399-8001. There is a one-time administrative enrollment fee. Enrollment in PSM does not automatically register you for specific classes. Registration fees for Core courses for members (PSM enrolled) and electives may vary in cost. The average cost to complete the entire PSM program is approximately $700.00. Contact NEFSC at (904) 399-3119, extension 124 for current fee schedule.
