Respiratory Protection

Details: OSHA Standards 1910.134 and 1926.103 require employers to maintain a respiratory protection program and that all persons with tasks where respirators are necessary must be trained, medically approved, fit tested and annually retrained. Anyone exposed to breathing air with oxygen depletion, harmful dust, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays or vapors must be trained. Course topics include: respiratory protection regulation, fit testing procedures, care & use of the equipment, and the different types of purifying respirators will be covered. Details: Pet first aid is the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill pet as temporary assistance until competent veterinary care is available. Properly applied first aid and CPR can save your pet's life, reduce recovery time and be the diference between temporary disability and lifelong disability. This program concentrates on basic CPR and first aid care. It is not intended to replace veterinary care, but rather to instruct the pet owner on how to save a pet's life during an emergency or to minimize a pet's trauma after injury. In addition to basic emergency care, we will cover some common illnesses and other problems that your pet may be exposed to. This program will primarily refer to dogs and cats. However, first aid applications for most pets are similar.

Details: Anyone from employees and community service professionals to children can be taught quick response and appropriate action at the scene of an injury. Infant, child and adult CPR are covered in this course. The course meets OSHA, NSHA, and MATA for workplace training. Also, included in this course is bloodborne pathogens for the workplace which teaches CDC guidelines, infection control, and methods of prevention and protection. AED is included.


OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER (HAZARDOUS WASTE SAFETY FOR GENERAL SITE WORKER)

Details: The HAZWOPER standard, 29 CFR 1910.120(e), requires 40 hours training off-site and 3 days field experience in order to work on a hazardous waste site. Students will learn proper selection and use of personal protective equipment, hazard assessment techniques, air monitoring principles, decontamination, permit procedures for confined spaces, hazardous properties of chemical wastes, regulations for management of hazardous wastes and more. This course incorporates hands on drills including an outside drill with Level “A” operations at a spill site.


24 Hour HAZMAT (Emergency Response to Hazardsous Materials)

Details: This is required training for public or private hazardous materials response teams. 29 CFR 1910.120(q) mandates a minimum of 24 hours of training covering specific training topics. This course is designed to bring a responder to the technician level of hazardous materials response. Technicians may perform offensive maneuvers at an emergency scene, such as patching leaks, cleaning up spilled product, etc. Students will learn proper selection and use of personal protective equipment, hazard assessment techniques, and air monitoring principles, decontamination, and more.

Details: This course covers rights and responsibilities under the OSH Act, the appeals process, recordkeeping, and hazard identification. EPA Regulations for Management of Hazardous Waste

Details: 40 CFR Part 265.16 required training for facility personnel handling hazardous waste. They must successfully complete a program of classroom instruction or on the job training teaching them to respond effectively to emergencies by familiarizing them with emergency procedures, emergency equipment, and emergency systems. In addition, the following hazardous waste regulations are covered: 40 CFR Part 262 Subparts A-General Requirements, B-Manifest, C-Pre-transport, and D-Record keeping and Reporting. The course primarily targets Small Quantity Generators, although Large Quantity Generators are also covered. It helps meet initial training and annual review requirements.

Details: The First Aid Class will teach students to recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illnesses. The CPR program will teach students to recognize life threatening emergencies, how to provide basic life support and when and how to use a defibrillator, what to do in case of an airway obstruction or choking. This program is recognized by OSHA, DOT, CDC, State Department of Health, child licensing and many other agencies. AED is included.

Details: This course is designed to provide the participant with an overview of electrical installations and equipment. Emphasis is placed on controlling electrical hazards by application of OSHA standards and the National Electrical Code. Upon completion of the course the participants will be able to: Discuss the effects of electrical current on the human body with respect to voltage, current path, and the duration of exposure; Understand OSHA electrical standards; Detect electrical hazards, determine which OSHA standards apply, and achieve the appropriate abatement; Understand the proper use of safety electrical test equipment and Understand how the National Electrical Code ties into OSHA’s electrical standard. Details: Anyone from employees and community service professionals to children can be taught quick response and appropriate action at the scene of an injury. Infant, child, and adult CPR are covered in this course. Our course meets OSHA, NSHA, and MATA for workplace training. Also, included in this course is bloodborne pathogens for the workplace which teaches CDC guidelines, infection control, and methods of prevention and protection. AED is included.

This program was developed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
