for first time Florida driver license applicants.
Effective January 1, 1990, Florida law requires all first time driver license
applicants to attend a Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)-approved
traffic law and substance abuse education course or a DOE approved driver's
education course.
This four hour DHSMV approved traffic law and substance abuse course provides
instruction on the following:
The physiological and psychological consequences of the abuse of alcohol
and other drugs
The societal and economics costs of alcohol and drug abuse
The effects of alcohol and drug abuse on the driver of a motor vehicle
The laws of this state related to the operations of a motor vehicle
