Florida Statute(F.S.) 318.14(9) - (10)(a)- allows for attendance in a Department-approved basic driver improvement course in lieu of a court appearance for most noncriminal traffic infractions. In such cases, adjudication must be withheld and points may not be assessed, as provided by F.S. 322.27. ATTENTION DRIVERS HOLDING A COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE: Effective July 1, 2005, drivers holding a commercial license may no longer make a school election. Reference: Florida Statute 318.14(9) & (10).

The Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDI) is a four hour classroom or online traffic course designed to teach drivers how to avoid collisions and reduce traffic violations. Persons electing to attend as an election under F.S. 318.14(a) must pay the citation and make the election to the ticketing county prior to class enrollment.

The following is required for registration:
  • Citation number
  • Ticketing County
  • Date of payment and election
  • Name
  • Address
  • Driver License number
  • Social Securtiy number
  • Telephone Number
  • Date of birth

Both our classroom and internet courses are approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for insurance discounts.
